| With contemporary art demand from India showing a steep downward trend. The Modern artist has proved that the market is still open to quality works and there are takers for exceptional quality works. Francis Newton Souza “Orange Head” sold for GBP 403250 against the higher estimate of GBP 120000.Jogen Chowdhary’s “Day Dreaming “which sold for a whopping GBP 373,250 against higher estimate of 120000 was an eye opener .Also the highest record for the artist in any auction. The Poster Boy of Indian Art M F Husain totaled GBP 526,100 in total of 8 works .Two of Husain Works did not exceed the higher estimates clearly indicating the quality was the important aspect for collectors. |

| The Contemporary artists had very less to do in this auction with only two works selling. One by Vivek Vislasini which went for GBP 25000 against the pre estimate of 8000 Bhalla – Selling below the pre estimate for GBP 43 estimate of GBP 20,000 – 30,000 did not find any takers. Also failed to find a bid were two works by Contemporary Artist Thugral and Tagra with estimates of GBP 30,000. |
